چکیده

Multiphoton intravital microscopy of lymph nodes has revolutionized the study of the early events leading to induction of acquired immunity. Using this technique, Junt et al. (2007) report in a recent issue of Nature that macrophages of the mouse lymph node subcapsular sinus facilitate B cell activation in vivo by collecting and displaying native antigen.

Decrease in macrophage antigen catabolism caused by ammonia and chloroquine is associated with inhibition of antigen presentation to T cells.

This paper describes the effects of two lysosomotropic compounds, ammonia and chloroquine, on the interaction of mononuclear phagocytes with immune T cells. The uptake and ingestion of Listeria monocytogenes by macrophages were not affected by the drugs; however, the macrophage catabolism of 125I-labeled Listeria was reduced in a dose-dependent way. The macrophage presentation of Listeria to T ...

Comparision of the effects of Leishmania Soluble Antigen (LSA) and Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on C57BL/6 Mice Macrophage Function

Background: Macrophages activation is the important anti-leishmania immune response. Different signals could affect macrophages development and functional activation. Objectives: In the present study, we compared the effect of Leishmania Soluble Antigen (LSA)and Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on peritoneal macrophage responses. Appropriate activation of macrophages depends on thesignals they receive ...

Macrophage Activation Syndrome as the First Presentation of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

Macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) is a rare feature of rheumatic disorders in children and adolescence and its presentation as the first symptom of rheumatic disorders is very infrequent. A 9-year-old girl, in whom MAS developed, was admitted to our Hospital in Tehran, Iran. She suffered from high grade fever and rash followed by multiple joint swelling months afterwards. Bone marrow aspira...

P-145: Role of Human Leukocyte Antigen in Miscarriage

Background: During pregnancy, the maternal immune system is in close contact with cells and tissue from the semiallogenic fetus .The human leucocyte antigen (HLA) class Ib molecules, HLA-E, -F and -G, are expressed at the materno-fetal interface. Because of the apparent immunoregulatory functions of these proteins, they may be involved in successful acceptance of the semi-allogenic fetus during...

Lineage Switch Macrophages Can Present Antigen

Recent reports of "lineage switching" from a lymphoid to macrophage phenotype have left unresolved the question of whether such cells are functional macrophages or nonfunctional products of differentiation gone awry. This study demonstrates that several "macrophage-like" cell lines derived from v-Ha-ras-transformed pre-B cells have gained the capacity to effectively present antigen in MHC-restr...

Nramp1 transfection transfers Ity/Lsh/Bcg-related pleiotropic effects on macrophage activation: influence on antigen processing and presentation.

The natural resistance-associated macrophage protein (Nramp1) regulates macrophage activation. One of its pleiotropic effects on macrophage function is to regulate expression of major histocompatibility class II molecules. In this study macrophages stably transfected with the wild-type (infection-resistant) or the natural mutant (infection-susceptible) allele of the Nramp1 gene were used to stu...
